Week3

Over the third week of the project I have been using that time to complete the paperwork that explains the project itself with the initial ideas. I have talked about a range of ideas and decided why they will work and why the wouldn't work (pros and cons). In terms of a chosen idea I have decided to do an internet shopping cart but in the form of a website, the website will be about clothing and jewellery. Additional things I plan to do for the project is photography and editing for my website, this shows that I am going to incorporate some of my media skills into this. Apart from designing the website with the coding I will also talk about the different dimensions and HCI concept as these factors are also a part of websites in general. I have completed the mood boards and explained them plus I have made a brief start to the website templates that will show how the interface is going to look plus show the colours that will be used. In the documentation I have shown examples of a website which I created last year talking about the negatives and positives plus discussing what changes or enhancements I want to make for this one. My next task is to complete the templates, finish the presentation and talk about target audience.

Week2

Over the past two weeks I have been doing some work on my project, I haven't done loads because the PowerPoint presentation needs to be presented first before proceeding any further with the idea. I have started on a PowerPoint document of a few slides that will state the basics of what my tutor and some class members will expect to see, in the next few days I will finalise it into a completed presentation ready to show to people. I have made two mood boards to visually show what kinds of things I would like to make within my chosen idea, I have chosen that I want to do an online shopping cart but in the form of a website but the go ahead is still pending for this. The pictures shown on the mood boards are linked with website design in general and types of features I would like to attempt on a website which I haven't done last year. To properly show what I want to do I will make a few mock up pages with show the colour scheme and layout of how I want it to look, it may be similar to the home electrical products website I made last year. Obviously the colour scheme I choose now will be different plus I want my website to have the ability to do stuff such as zooms, choosing sizes/types and adding to a cart, etc.

Week1

This is the official first week of the Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation unit and the main priority right now is to bounce around ideas to see what will work best, this involves discussing with the tutor if it is HNC/D quality enough to pursue. Thinking back a week ago and this current week I am still stuck on what to choose, any idea I do think of in the end has to be ICT/Computing related otherwise it will have no relevance to the course.

A few ideas I have for a project I could do are:

1. An internet shopping cart system

2. Online consumer decision support & advertising

3. Web advertising or web publishing

4. An account management system for a restaurant or ice-cream parlour

5. Hotel booking system

For example if I were to do a booking system or an account management system it could be done through CSS and HTML coding or website design. Personally for myself I think I am best to stick with ideas associated with website design or e-commerce, the reasons for this is because I have knowledge of these subjects from studying the HNC plus having made a website I am thinking to use ideas from that template but change the theme completely and improve features.
